Book Review-The Fungus: By Devin J. Meaney
To continue on with my last book review I will state that my interest in Harry Adam Knight was ignited by my love of the film Carnosaur. Although Knight's books are out of print and highly expensive—they did do re-issues of Carnosaur, Slimer and The Fungus! I read Carnosaur (the book was great but I did enjoy the movie series more) and just a while back I finished Slimer!
Slimer was a good read even with a few typos and absurdity. When I first started reading The Fungus I felt as if I might have enjoyed Slimer more. With that said—after reading The Fungus in its entirety I can say that I did deeply enjoy this book—and I can also say that the writing was better than in Slimer!
As a zombie fan—people riddled with fungus turning into mobs of semi-sentient beasts is something that intrigues me!
The one thing I can say though (just like with Slimer and Carnosaur) is that I found the graphic sexualized scenes to be highly unnecessary and if they were not written into the pages of the books younger readers might get to enjoy some of Knight's work. All in all this was a great read and I encourage fans of cheesy B horror to give these novels a well deserved read through!
